We’ve had some rainfall which helped our plants – including our newly planted Food Forest guilds and Rock Garden – but the weeds are grateful for the moisture too! In spite of our mulching, they are thriving in some areas of the garden. We’ve have some creative solutions. A sign was discreetly added to a patch of invasives, “Free weeds! Pick you own.” The food forest guilds are up for adoption and at least one family has cleared weeds in their chosen guild and added straw-mulch. Shown below is one of our star gardeners. We can always count on him to be at our volunteer events. When he learned we needed help with weeds, he brought out his dump truck.
