This year, Parkdale is partnering with several great organizations to bring some holiday cheer to you and others in our community!
We welcome you to join us in any or all of the below events and activities. Read below to find out more!
Santa’s Sleigh Ride and Girl Guide Cookies
That’s right, Santa is coming to Parkdale to put smiles on people’s faces, and candy canes in their hands! On Saturday, Dec 5th from 2:30pm to 3:30pm, Santa will be sleighing his way on a route through Parkdale. Kids of all ages are welcome to come out and see the light-up sleigh, share a wave and a “HO-HO-HO!”, and get a candy cane from Santa’s elf!
The 98th Calgary Girl Guides will also be Santa’s helpers as he travels through our community! The girls will be selling delicious chocolate mint cookies along the route for $5/box (cash only)! If you want to buy a box, just wave them over and they will bring cookies to you! The Guides will also be collecting Parkdale’s food bank donations too – if you’d like to donate just leave your non-perishable items at the curb along the route and they will pick them up!
*Note, if COVID-19 restrictions change and the Guides cannot walk behind Santa, they will still have cookies available for sale as well as a food bank donation location at the end!
A map of the route is found here, keep an eye out and join in the fun!

I Belong Bags Donation Drive
I Belong Bags (IBB) is committed to providing Calgary children with essential and comfort items to children in crisis to help restore their dignity. Parkdale is hosting a donation drive for this great organization and we ask you to help out!
Their Facebook page has lots of great information, photos, and stories about their journey: https://www.facebook.com/ibelongbags
There are a number of ways for Parkdale and others to help out:
Build a Backpack – fill a duffel bag or backpack with some key items and a stocking stuffer to bring some holiday cheer to a child in need. The item list can be found here. Items can be new, or gently used. We will also happily take any of the individual items from the list, no backpack required! Please drop off the packs and items at the Parkdale Community Association from noon to 2:00pm on December 5th / 6th and December 12th / 13th. Note, donations left after December 6th may not be delivered for this year’s holiday but are still gratefully accepted. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you require a pick-up of your donation.
Other great ways to support I Belong Bags:
Amazon Wish List – always active and updated, this wish list is great if you prefer to shop online. The items are delivered directly to IBB to allow them to continue their great work.

Please make your wish list purchases on or before Dec 6, 2020 to ensure that IBB receives the items and can build the backpacks for kids in time for the holidays!
GoFundMe – monetary donations are always graciously accepted, especially to allow IBB to directly purchase specific items they need when packing bags – especially important at this time of year!

Please bring donations to the Parkdale Community Association from noon to 2:00pm on December 5th / 6th and December 12th / 13th. Note, donations after December 6th may not be used for this year’s holiday but are still gladly accepted. Please email email@example.com if you require a pick-up of your donation.
