Frequently Asked Questions and Policies

What’s in the box?

Each week, we work to source nothing but the freshest selection of vegetables and fruit for you. What you can expect is a selection of 6-8 items that will change from week to week and season to season. With each item we try to ensure that it is of higher quality than what you can often find in the grocery stores and where possible is local, organic, small farm produced or is unique.

We take supporting local farmers and the local economy seriously, so very little product will be from outside of Alberta and in some cases BC. Thankfully we have connections to lots of greenhouses for when the weather is particularly cold!

We encourage you to let your palate be adventurous and to try new things that you may have never eaten before. We will try to include recipes each week to help with this culinary adventure. Plus, each week you can access your account to purchase “add-on” items such as meat pies, pre-prepared foods, honey and eggs!

Signing Up

Sign-up-buttonWhen you sign up, a secure, online member profile is created for you with your box options. So whether you want to pick it up, have it delivered, or see your account activity, the process is easy!

You can view and edit your account, change your pickup location, payment info and even place a vacation or suspension hold on your box. Just sign in to your account.

interac2We have two options for payment. The easiest is using PayPal. Through PayPal you can pay with any credit card and straight from your bank account. If you sign up for a PayPal account, you can make the payments ongoing, automatic and you will get a statement by email.

The other option is to pay in person at the Community Association or by phoning us at (403) 283-5767. This option allows you to use cash, cheque, credit or debit. We do not store any of your personal or financial information on our website. Farmigo runs our order site, so your information is stored securely by them.

Picking up – or having your Box delivered

foodmapOrders are available for pickup 2:30-6:30 PM every Wednesday at the Parkdale Farmers’ Market (3512 5 ave NW).

Alternatively you can have your box delivered Thursday mornings, right to your door! This convenient service is available to anyone living in the communities of Parkdale, Point McKay, St. Andrews Heights & West Hillhurst (up to Crowchild). The service is $5 per delivery and is paid online with your order. At that point, you will also be able to let us know what you would like done with your order if you are not at home to receive it.

Missing your pickup

If you miss your pick up, call the community association when we open the following morning to let us know what time you will be in to pick up your box (403-283-5767).   We have very limited space to store our boxes, so any box that is not picked up by 3 PM on Thursday, will be donated. Unfortunately, we cannot give a credit for boxes that are not picked up, but don’t worry; the produce will not go to waste.

Switching between pickup and delivery

If you change your mind and decide you would prefer to have your box delivered, or pick up at the market, please change the setting in your account by Monday evening of each week.

Vacation and Suspension Holds

You may put your Fresh Harvest delivery on hold by logging into your account. Please do this before midnight on Sunday for the coming week. Your credit/debit card will not be charged while your delivery is on hold. For emergencies, please email Scott Weir and we will get back to you ASAP.

Parkdale Fresh Food Box communicates with you via email on a regular basis to inform you of a payment or to remind you of a scheduled pick up. Sometimes we will need to send out alerts about your order. By becoming a member of the Parkdale Fresh Food Box, you are agreeing to open and read all email communications as soon as you see them as much of the information is time sensitive.

You can choose to no longer subscribe to the program at any point. However any subscription you have signed up for will follow through until the end of the period.

Holiday Changes

We will give you plenty of notice about holiday date changes.

Returning Your Box

produce.box_.istockPlease return your box when you pick up your next Fresh Food Box each week at the market. At that point you will be given a new box full of that weeks produce. If you forgot your box, no problem! We will keep track of it and need to get it back from you as soon as you can. If we do not receive the box back from you in a timely fashion, we will ask for you to pay for it.
