Wanted: Stampede Parade Pacers

pacerOnce again this year, The Federation of Calgary Communities is proud and excited to announce that community volunteers will once again be participating in the Calgary Stampede Parade!

As always, we would like to invite you to participate in this wonderful event. On Friday July 4, 2014 all communities will be represented in the parade by ‘pacers’ walking alongside each parade entry. Each ‘pacer’ is given a white cowboy hat and water bottle holster as well as a bright sash highlighting the name of their community.

This is an amazing opportunity to proudly represent your community and participate in one of Calgary’s premier family events. You now have the opportunity to showcase everything that is awesome about your community!

All ‘pacers’ must be adults over the age of 18, they must be able to walk 4 km, and no children or strollers may accompany them during the parade route.

The deadline to respond is Monday, May 19th, 2014. Following that date we will call on last year’s pacers to fill the remaining spots on a first come, first serve basis.

As a pacer you will be required to:

  • Attend a training session (date and time to be determined)
  • Be available from 6:00am – noon on parade day (Friday, July 4th, 2013)
  • Be able to walk the parade route of approximately 4km rain, snow or shine!

If you have not paced before, check out the Federation of Calgary Communities 2013 parade photo album on Facebook!
