Making tiles for the garden mural

GardenTilesGallery20140301_0173 Several groups have gathered to create tiles for the Parkdale Community Association’s garden mural. You can see from the photos that everyone has created a stunning piece, both uniquely creative and beautifully crafted. You may also be able to tell that folks are having a wonderful time. People have participated as family groups, groups of friends, couples and individuals. In every case the result has surpassed their own expectations and charmed the rest of us.

Booking your own studio session

GardenTilesGallery20140302_0177 If you would like a chance to make your own tile or have already signed up but not been able to take advantage of the studio options offered so far, please gather a group of six to eight people and contact me. We will craft a studio schedule that will work for everyone. In addition to individual tiles, some groups are designing and creating a table-top for a cement outdoor table that will offer seating in the centre of our raised bed configuration.Groups work out a single design together and execute it in tile. Fees for the tile experience, which includes clay, glaze, firing and instruction, are $30 for an individual and $80 for a family. The fee for a group table-top would be $300 which includes all of the materials, instruction and installation of your design as well as group or individual names displayed in the edge tile.

Building a garden – and a better community

Your tiles will become part of an installation in the community built garden. Our build date is the weekend of June 6, 7 and 8. There are a host of ways that you can be involved and we would love to have you. Please see the article on the build which invites all of the various kinds of involvement we will need. We look forward to you joining us! Audrey Smith Director/Garden Chair/Ceramic Artist
